BLG Logistics Group seals pre-contract to form joint venture in China

BLG Cinko Autotec establishes a PDI centre for export and import vehicles in the Chinese port of Tianjin:

BLG Logistics Group (Bremen) is forming a new joint venture with the Chinese company Cinko SCM. The pre-contract was signed on 23 August in Beijing. The two enterprises want to jointly operate a PDI centre in the port of Tianjin. BLG Cinko Autotec will clean and modify export vehicles from Chinese production at this location and prepare them for shipment. Also import vehicles will be prepared for the Chinese market.

The PDI centre in Tianjin Port is the first project of the joint enterprise. The area is situated close to the ro-ro terminals in the port of Tianjin. On 55,000 m² halls and office buildings are available. The joint venture partners reckon with a maximum annual throughput of 38,000 vehicles. Their committment in Tianjin shall be followed by further projects, e.g. in Shanghai.

Cinko SCM was established in 1997 and initially concentrated on forwarding export vehicles from China. In 2010 the shipping company Eukor took a 20 per cent-holding in the enterprise. Cinko is now organising logistics chains for Chinese car manufacturers.

Chinesebrands like First Auto Works, Geely or Chery have been passing the BLG Logistics Group’s car terminals for years. They are forwarded with feeder vessels to eastern Europe, where BLG is present in Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Illichevsk at the Black Sea. A terminal at the border with Russia is in the pipeline.
