Budapest Airport: Space without limits for air freight

Budapest Airport wants to become established as an air freight hub for Central and Eastern Europe and is in search for “consolidations”-specialists

Even if the plans of the management board were dampened by the insolvency of the Malév Hungarian Airlines, the Budapest Airport wants to position itself as an air freight hub for Central and Eastern Europe on the medium term. This was disclosed by Christa Soltua, Vice President Cargo and Logistics of Hungary’s biggest traffic airport, in the interview with the paper LogEASTics. According to her conditions are ideal. “There is space for air freight without limits“, she depicts the current situation.

The Budapest Airport lacks specialists for the segment of consolidation services for the implementation of its ambitious plans for the construction of a new air freight hall with about 11,000 m²covered area. The aim of Christa Soltau is to win international forwarding companies ready to establish consolidation points for air freight shipments from Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia.

N° 4/2012 of the paper LogEASTics will feature a detailed report on the Budapest Airport Cargo.
