CTS/DB consortium to rent the container terminal in Ennshafen port

CTS/DB Mobility Logistics consortium shall add new impetus to the logistics hub in Enns: neutral access for shippers and logistics providers is secured by contract

The Ennshafen container terminal has found a new operator. The bidding consortium CTS/DB Mobility Logistics GmbH is to rent the facility together with the connecting railway in the Ennshafen port. This has been decided by Upper Austria’s government on 14 July. The consortium was the result of a more than six months-bidding process and will establish a new enterprise to operate the terminal. There had been three final biddings in total.

“The concept of the consortium promises the biggest impetus for the logistics hub in Enns“, Wirtschafts-Landesrat Michael Strugl explains the decision. The rent from the 20 years-contract will also make a big contribution to secure the existence of the port operation and of the further development of the logistics location. Both will remain under the competence of Ennshafen OÖ GmbH, owned by the Land of Upper Austria.

The lease will start in spring 2015. “A main part of the agreement is the non-discriminatory and neutral access for all logistics and transport enterprises to the container terminal and to the quay facilities“, emphasises Landesrat Michael Strugl in a press release.

Agreements have also been made for the employees: 36 of the current 47 staff members of Ennshafen OÖ GmbH, working at the container terminal, will be taken over by the new leaseholder. Eleven persons are still employed by Ennshafen OÖ GmbH.

CTS Container Terminal Salzburg GmbH is owned by the Salzburg-based wood processing enterprise Kaindl, who wants to develop the Cargo City Enns project on a 35 hectares premises in the Ennshafen port, and benefit from synergies as the leaseholder of the container terminal. Therefore a concept of preventive measures regarding noise and light has been set up for the residents’ protection.
