Dachser expands its network in France

Start signal for the construction of Dachser’s nee Eurohub in France

On 6 Juli 2010 Dachser gave the start signal for the construction works of its thrird Eurohub. The new facility will be built on a 60,600 m² plot in the municipality of Combronde, which is about 30 kilometres south of the French city Clermont-Ferrand. The hub will have a throughput area of 7,150 m² and 98 loading gates; the office area on three floors totals to 1,410 m². The opening is planned for summer 2011. With the new building the internationally acting logistics service provider creates 100 jobs in this region. The investment totals to EUR 10 million according to a press release.

„It’s our aim to create reliable, clocked transport systems. Customers shall benefit thereof in the form of optimised delivery times“, explains Philippe Tardieu, Manager of the national company Dachser France. The transportations are based on a central logistics platform, which offers forwarding links for the consignments to all locations of the French network. About 55 trucks arrive per night at the cargo hub. Thus a major part of the French market can be covered within 24 hours. The site is close to the motorways A71 and A89.

In 2009 Dachser generated total revenue of EUR 3.2 billion. 17,500 staff working in 306 profit centres worldwide handled 41.8 million consignments weighing a total of 29.4 million tons.
