Damco striving for a stronger position in Europe

Logistics subsidiary of A.P. Moller Maersk Group wants to push its turnover in Europe with new major customers
 
Damco, the worldwide operating provider of 3PL services (third party logistics), runs a program to improve its market position in Europe. Establishing business units for the regions West and East they created new structures for the development and establishment of customer-specific service concepts, taking local particularities into consideration. “With this concept and targeted acquisition of major customers we want to double turnover in the region Europe before the year 2014“, Chief Executive Officer Rolf Habben-Jansen names the company’s aim.
 
Compared to the big competitors in 3PL business, Damco is wuite weakly represented in Europe. In global business the enterprise has currently 10,800 employees at 300 locations in 90 countries and offices in 30 states. Disposing 2.5 million TEU (sea freights and logistic substrate) and 110,000 tonnes of air freight they generated a turnover at USD 2.8 billion in 2011.
