Danube Business Talks: Launch of a new business platform in Vienna

Over 150 participants coming from all over Europe discuss the topic “Opening up new markets for the Rhine-Danube Corridor”

For two days – 19 & 20 March 2014 – Vienna is host city of Danube Business Talks, a new business platform to explore new markets for inland waterway transport along the Rhine-Danube Corridor. In the presence of high ranking EU Officials and representatives of the inland waterway sector, this new conference is bringing together key players to develop business relations and to discuss requirements and future opportunities for shifting cargo to inland waterways.

Convened by viadonau together with international partners, Danube Business Talks are offering a platform to link leading experts in a setting of dialogue and exchange of ideas for better and more efficient inland waterway transport along the Rhine-Danube Corridor. For its first edition, this must-attend event is focussing on the transport of High & Heavy cargo and Renewable Resources & Biomass, two market segments offering high potential for transport via inland vessel.

„This conference is a unique opportunity for inland waterway transport, one that all participants should seize. On the one hand, it is bringing together the private sector and is facilitating the development of new business cooperation initiatives and on the other hand it is providing a platform for discussion on requirements and ideas on new markets with key European and national policy makers“, underlines Hans-Peter Hasenbichler, Managing Director of viadonau.

The second day of the event is focussing on the development of business contacts and potential partnerships: within the framework of a Danube Logistics Conference, ports along the Danube are presenting their service portfolio to an interested audience. Danube Business Dating will move to a more practical dimension with potential customers meeting transport operators and multimodal service providers in pre-scheduled bilateral business-to-business meetings.

The conference is organised by viadonau and the Port of Vienna together with international partners within the framework of the projects PLATINA II, co-financed by the European Commission’s FP7 programme and INWAPO, co-financed by the Central Europe Programme of the European Commission.
