DB Schenker is building a modern logistics hub in Tyrol for EUR 33 million

DB Schenker Austria is investing EUR 33 million in a new and sustainable logistics center in Vomperbach,Tyrol. The first expansion phase will see the construction of 60,000 m² of space: a large modern office complex covering 4,000 m², a 4,000 m² handling area for the business divisions Land, Air & Ocean, and a state-of-the-art infrastructure with 12,000 m² for contract logistics, as reported by the company in a press release last night.

“With our new logistics center in the more than 100,000 m² industrial area of ​​Vomperbach, we are pooling our two European and national lines in an efficient way by combining two locations (Innsbruck and Kufstein) and making an important economic contribution to Tyrol. High environmental standards for the new location are important to us,” says Helmut Schweighofer, CEO of DB Schenker Austria and Southeastern Europe. The project will improve utilisation of the units and thus a sustainable reduction of traffic and CO2. The new and environmentally friendly logistics center is scheduled to start operation in 2020.

“In the future, we will be providing the services to our customers even more effectively and ecologically, making utilisation of our transports even more efficient and optimising the loading space filling – in short, we will achieve positive and environmentally friendly bundling effects,”

says Manfred Zaletel, Branch Manager in Innsbruck. Also a 12 meter high logistics hall will be built. In addition, there will be 6,000 m² of expansion space available for logistics in the future.

In Austria, DB Schenker employs around 2,000 people in 12 branches.
