This was announced by Karsten Sachsenröder, Member of the Management Board of DB Schenker Rail GmbH, at a meeting with important customers at DB Port Szczecin. DB Schenker Rail intends to further use and develop DB Port Szczecin as an international hub for sea and land transport of general cargo and containers along the most significant routes within and outside of Poland.

DB Port Szczecin has 40 cranes, ten warehouses and more than 3 kilometres of quay facilities, which makes it one of the most modern and multi-faceted port facilities in Poland. A new container terminal for an annual throughput capacity of 200,000 TEU is being erected.

Aside from container throughput the product portfolio of the port comprises also general cargo and logistics services. In addition to containers the products of the paper, steel, automotive, construction materials and chemical industry are also important commodities. According to their own account DB Port Szczecin is the largest throughput area for general cargo in western Poland.
