PCC Logistics to become East-European pillar of Deutsche Bahn

A change in ownership is to take place at Poland’s biggest private railway carrier PCC Logistics. Deutsche Bahn takes over 100 per cent of the shares of PCC Group (Petro Carbo Chem) from the German-Polish entrepreneur Waldemar Preussner. The acquisition is subject to the approval of the according boards and competition authorities. The parties agreed upon keeping the purchase price confidential.

PCC Logistics, which employs around 5, 800 persons and achieved an annual turnover of EUR 350 million, is Poland’s biggest private railway company. The enterprise comprises several regionally operating companies concentrating in Silesia, which mainly transport coal, chemical products and construction material. The fleet association comprises more than 400 locomotives and 7,700 wagons.
The Deutsche Bahn Management intends to use and develop the acquired group as a main pillar for the further expansion towards the east. According to a press release Poland offers big growth potential for rail logistics offers. PCC Logistics covers around 8 per cent of the Polish market for rail cargo transport.
