DHL accelerates LCL transport from China to Hamburg

Direct service by DHL Global Forwarding from Shanghai and Dalian to Hamburg with improved carbon efficiency

 

Launching two new LCL services, DHL Global Forwarding accelerates the importation service for se cargo from China to Germany. Transport time for Less Than Container Load shipments on the route from Shanghai to Hamburg and from Dalian to Hamburg is reduced by three and six days, respectively. This improves carbon efficiency by 5.7 percent for the Dalian-Hamburg service.

“The introduction of these new services provides customers with more flexible delivery options between the fast-growing North Asian market and Europe. Germany is China’s biggest trade partner in the European Union. Our direct services support this trade relation", says Friedhelm Uhlhorn, Vice President Ocean Freight Germany. Trade volume of import by sea freight from China to Germany totalled to around EUR 128 billion in 2009 according to the Chinese Ministry of Trade.

The new direct twice-a-week LCL service from Shanghai and Dalian to Hamburg address small and medium enterprises from the industry sectors automotive, consumer products, electronics and textile. DHL Global Forwarding expands and operates currently the world’s largest LCL network with close to 2 million cubic meters of consolidated freight handled annually via 45,000 scheduled services. The system is operated by DHL’s in-house carrier Danmar Lines. The services include a gapless end-to-end supply chain management that includes pick-up at origin, consolidation and deconsolidation, delivery at destination and customs clearance.
