DPD Austria merges operations to increase sustainability

Parcel service DPD Austria documents their strong sense of environmental awareness with their own brand and charta for sustainabillity:

The parcel service DPD Austria increases their sustainability efforts. The buzzword "responsibility" merges all operations regarding increased sustainability. The focus is on the three pillars "environment", "employees" and "society".

Their commitment to a responsible strategy is illustrated with the specifically designed logo. Awareness for the sustainability objectives are to be enforced within the company as well as demonstrated to the public. A responsibility charta was specially designed and clearly defines the priorities for the individual strategic measures.

For DPD Austria the activities in the area "environment" focus on the continuous reduction of the CO2 emissions produced by the company. As for the area "employees", the health and safety of the employees are the most important aspects. With regard to "society", many non-profit organisations will also profit from the DPD initiatives, be it by support in logistics matters, know-how or donations received from voluntary commitments or unpaid for transports. "With our sustainability strategy we clearly show that responsiblity is not a short-term goal but a continuous process", says general manager Rainer Schwarz.

DPD Austria (direct parcel distribution) with headquarters in Leobersdorf near Vienna is Austria’s leading private parcel service. The company specialises in national and international business to business parcel shipments. Throughout Austria the company employs about 1,500 people and operates a transport fleet comprising more than 900 vehicles. In 2010 DPD Austria transported 37,5 million parcels.
