DSV A/S presents positive half-year results for 2012

Results of the Air & Sea division beats expectations for the first six months of 2012 and exceeds the 2011 reference period
 
The globally operating transport and logistics service provider DSV A/S headquartered in Brøndby (Denmark) presented the half year figures 20120 at the end of July. Both the Air & Sea and Road divisions reported earnings growth despite challenging market conditions. Particularly in Southern Europe declining freight volumes could be felt as a result of the economic crisis, as the management of the enterprise reports.
 
Group revenue for the first half of 2012 amounted to DKK 22,191 million (about EUR 2.97 billion), as compared to 2011 at DKK 21,882 million. DSV achieved an operating profit before special items (EBITA) of DKK 1,242 million (about EUR 167 billion), corresponding to an EBITA margin of around 5 per cent. The number of staff remained stable at more than 21,400 employees.
 
“Results of the Air & Sea division is clearly surpassing our expectations for the first half of the year 2012, and even the strong reference period of 2011“, Tobias Schmidt, Managing Director DSV Air & Sea GmbH, Bremen, is satisfied with these results. Also DSV Solutions registered positive trends: “Our facilities have good capacity utilisation at more than 92 per cent. We grew with our existing customers and were able to implement new businesses“, Harald Schefft, Managing Director DSV Solutions GmbH, Bremen, sums up the development.
