Early start of Nordfrost’s seaport terminal

Seaport terminal of the Nordfrost group at the JadeWeserPort (Wilhelmshaven) to be opened on 31 July 2012

After a construction period of exactly eight months the seaport terminal of the Nordfrost group is to start ahead of the schedule. In a press release the management announces the opening of the facility, effective as of 31 July 2012. About 1,500 pallets of fresh goods for German domestic use are stored as the first stock at a constant temperature of + 1 degree Celsius in the racking system of the fresh chambers. This means a smooth transition to the delivery of the first fruit containers in the second half of August.

The already concluded agreements with two major fruit importers could be modified after difficult negotiations with the participating shipping companies, so that the goods will be handled before the opening of the JadeWeserPort via other ports, notably Bremerhaven. From there, the containers are transported to the Nordfrost seaport terminal in Wilhelmshaven.

In addition to the import handling and interim storage Nordfrost will also provide deeper services in the future, such as sorting, packaging and labelling of goods according to individual customer requirements at the JadeWeserPort, before the different fruit are distributed by the logistics company primarily to the retail chains and wholesalers. When the first container ship will be docking at the wharf, the area for general cargo on the Nordfrost seaport terminal will be launched as well.
