Emirates SkyCargo starts freighter service from Germany to Brazil

Emirates SkyCargo’s Boeing 747-400 freighter to fly from Frankfurt to Viracopos-Campinas once weekly from November

Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of the Dubai-based international airline Emirates, enhances its comittment in Germany. Effective from 31 October 2010 a weekly freighter flight from Frankfurt to Campinas, in the north-west of the capital São Paulo, will complete the range of services. The Viracopos-Campinas International Airport (airport code VCP) is the most important cargo airport in the federal state of São Paulo.

The oneway route is served on Sundays by use of freighter aircraft of the Boeing 747-400 type, offering a capacity for 115 tons. An exclusively technical stopover is made in Senegal’s capital Dakar.

Reinhard Coldewe, Emirates Cargo Manager Germany: „We are happy to considerably increase our flexibility and performance in South America with our first freight line from Germany to Brazil. This is a significant capacity increase for the German market in particular, and a very attractive alternative to our flights between Dubai and Brazil.”

Emirates SkyCargo operates as the freight division of Emirates Airline more than 100 worldwide destinations in 64 countries. The fleet comprises 144 passenger jets and seven freighter aircrafts (three jets of the Boeing 747-400F type, two Boeing 747-400ERF and one Boeing 777-F). In the 2009/10 fiscal year the enterprise carried 1.6 million tons of air cargo.
