Emons forwarding makes a major investment at the Port of Nuremberg

Emons Spedition establishes a new location just beside the trimodal container handling facility at the Port of Nuremberg:

The Emons forwarding company is investing more than EUR 10 million into the construction of its new location at bayernhafen Nuremberg. On a 30,000 m² plot a throughput and logistics hall with 55 gates (6,200 m²), offices (1,200 m²) as well as a free space (16,000 m²) will be constructed in the first stage. In the second stage a 5,000 m² high rack warehouse will be built. The 130 employees of the Nuremberg branch will move to their new work place with the start of 2012.

With the change of the location the internationally acting forwarding company meets the requirements of the high growth rates in the past years. Moreover the new location has better connections to railway, as the port’s trimodal container handling facility is just beside. Due to ecological reasons the enterprise promotes commitment to combined road/rail transport. The railway enterprise Emons Rail Cargo (ERC) operates its own container train services between the Northern ports and the provinces Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt.

The name Emons stands for a medium-sized, group-independent family enterprise with more than 40 branches in Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Byelorussia. Established in 1928 the family company headquartered in Cologne has about 2,000 staff.
