Ennshafen profits from its integration into the NINA system

RCA AG’s National Intermodal Network Austria improves access to the economic region Styria for customers of the Ennshafen port

Mag. Christian Steindl, CEO EHG, is glad about the integration of the Ennshafen port into the rail system NINA (National Intermodal Network Austria) of Rail Cargo Austria AG in January 2012. In a press talk he honoured this step as a contribution to increase the economic efficiency and competitiveness of the railway as a transport mode in Austria.

NINA gives Upper Austria’s shippers via the hub in Wels direct access to the economic region Styria and in particular to the Cargo Center Graz, where block trains depart regularly to Koper. Styria’s economy in turn receives a connection to the Terminal Enns, which means a direct link to the North Sea ports, of which it was disconnected lately", said the head of Ennshafen. As another positive criterion Steindl named the better connection of the terminal Krems to the container terminal Ennshafen. Last year 277,023 TEU were handled at the trimodal container terminal in the port of Enns. This represents an increase of 23 per cent compared to 2010.
