Etihad Cargo launches weekly freighter operation to Vienna

Cargo division of Arab airline Etihad Airways continues to expand the flight schedule and its freighter fleet
 
Etihad Cargo, the fast growing cargo division of United Arab Emirates flag carrier Etihad Airways, is significantly expanding their international flight network. In June, a new weekly freighter routing will commence from Abu Dhabi to Vienna, deploying Airbus A330-200F aircraft. Marketing of the capacity in Austria will be – as until now – in the hands of Globe Air Cargo GmbH (Vienna airport), a subsidiary of the French ECS Group.
 
Moreover a twice weekly freighter operation to Singapore and Sydney will be added to network. A new weekly route to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, will also commence in June. In a press release Etihad Cargoa announces also capacity and frequency increases from Abu Dhabi to Benghazi, Dhaka, Frankfurt, Guangzhou and Khartoum.
 
Kevin Knight, Chief Strategy and Planning Officer at Etihad Airways, said:  “Our cargo network continues to expand, and with the addition of new main deck operations to Riyadh, Sydney and Vienna we are significantly adding to the scale of our global operations and linking many parts of the world via our Abu Dhabi hub.
 
These days the first Boeing 747-8 freighter is to join the Etihad Airways fleet. The aircraft has a payload capacity of 138 tonnes. Therefore Etihad Airways has signed a multi-year Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) agreement with Atlas Air Worldwide. From June the airline will also operate three Boeing B777F, one Boeing 747-400ERF, one Boeing 747-400F and three Airbus A330-200F.
 
Established in 2003, Etihad Cargo is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. From its hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Etihad Cargo serves 88 passenger and cargo destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, America and Africa.
 
The fleet comprises 73 Boeing and Airbus aircraft. 90 more are on order, inlcuding 41 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and 10 Airbus A380.
