Geis Group becomes active for Eckes-Granini
Juice producer Eckes-Granini Deutschland awarded management of its central warehouse for southern Germany to the Geis Group
Specialising on national and international logistics the Geis Group has recently started managing the central warehouse for southern Germany on behalf of Eckes-Granini Deutschland. The facility is located near the headquarters of the German market leader in the segment of fruit beverages in Nieder-Olm close to Mainz and meets the highest hygienic standards. “We store several millions of bottles and we ship about five million litres of juice per month“, says Hans-Peter Schneider, the person in charge at Geis Industrie-Service GmbH.
Geis transports the beverages via shuttle from the plant in Bröl close to Bonn to the central warehouse for southern Germany. The goods are advised in advance, after arrival the NVE label is scanned, which makes it immediately available in the warehousing system of Eckes-Granini. In case of an order the Geis employees pick the individual goods and provide them at the outgoing goods area. Complete pallets are added shortly before shipping. Geis manages up to 240,000 picks for Eckes-Granini per month. In the pallets segment continuous barcode scanning is used, while employees in the picking segment work with a pick-by-voice system.
Eckes-Granini Deutschland is the biggest national company of the international Eckes-Granini Group, specialising on fruit beverages. The group covering the strategic brands hohes C, granini and FruchtTiger distributed about 395 million litres of juice in the year 2011. Regarding turnover figures, Eckes-Granini is ranked second in non-alcoholic beverages for food retail. At their three sites in Germany the enterprise employs about 500 persons.
