Gebrüder Weiss banks on the growth market Romania

Transport and logistics provider invests EUR 22 million in Romanian locations and the local network

Despite the overall stagnating market environment, Gebrüder Weiss sees itself still on the rise in Romania. Over the past three years, Gebrüder Weiss Holding AG, based in Lauterach (Vorarlberg, Austria) invested an amount of approximately EUR 22 million in the Southeast European country. In addition to building a logistics terminal in Bucharest providing about 8,000 m² storage area, a cross docking area of 2,500 m² and 1,350 m² of office room, the group established several locations and acquired building sites for future projects. At six locations in the country, currently more than 20,000 full-load transports are being processed per year.

According to estimates of Thomas Moser, Regional Manager of South-Eastern Europe and the CIS, the company has been able to position itself amongst the top five logistics and transport companies in Romania. “We have an annual growth rate of around 20 per cent in Romania,” Moser reports. The establishment of an extensive network in the country in order to be able to offer a 24-hour service is also part of the growth strategy. GW Romania’s customer structure ranges from the automotive sector (national supply of spare parts), secondary contract work and retail chains to the oil industry.
