Gefco group plans international expansion

Turnover of the Gefco group shall increase from lately around EUR 3.4 billion to more than EUR 5 billion before 2015

 

The French Gefco has set ambitious targets and wants to grow internationally, continuously and profitably in the coming years. Diversification in their business segments is one mean therefore; stronger expansion in fast growing regions is another mean. Their objective is to open two subsidiaries per year; in 2010 the group established their presence in Bulgaria and Kazakhstan. The group’s objective for 2015 is EUR 5.2 billion in turnover with the current operating income of 5.5 per cent. The Gefco group has been pursuing a profitable growth strategy since a while. The group is achieving 77 per cent of its growth outside France. Turnover realized with major manufacturers increased to EUR 1,217 million in 2010, up 16.3 per cent year on year.

This year’s focus of expansion lies in the CEE region and in Asia, particularly in China, where Gefco is currently represented by three entities. Also in India a presence shall be established. Gefco is currently present in 150 countries and ranks among Europe’s top ten logistics groups. The group has 400 business locations worldwide and a workforce of 9,400 employees, who generated a a 16 per cent increase in turnover to EUR 3.4 billion in 2010. Operating income came to EUR 198 million, or 5.9 per cent of turnover.
