Geis Group takes over Machspeed (Prague)

Geis Group announces takeover of the Czech specialist for air and sea freight Machspeed s.r.o.

Following the purchase of the logistics service provider Feico in autumn 2010, the Geis Group consolidates its position in the market for transport and logistics services in the Czech Republic by another company acquisition. The acquisition of Machspeed s.r.o. with its headquarters at the Prague airport is effective 1 January 2011. The company was already renamed into Geis CZ Air + Sea s.r.o..

Machspeed was established in 2005 and made a name for itself in the past years with professional handling of air and sea freight. The enterprise has an own warehouse and implements customs clearance under its own direction. The founder of the company Josef Mach has sold it for reasons of age.

With this takeover and change of the company name the Geis Group creates the basis to further develop their air and sea freight activities in the Czech Republic. So far this segment had been a department of the Geis CZ company. “Now we have our own strong unit, which strengthens our activities in Eastern Europe“, says Andreas Speiser, who took over the management of Geis CZ Air + Sea s.r.o. together with Lubo¹ Scheinost. Both remain parallel managing directors of other Geis companies.

The Geis Group has increased the staff in Prague to twelve employees in the meantime. Operative management of the location lies in the hands of David Knobloch. He was previously in charge of air and sea freight at Geis CZ. The new Geis company wants to expand its circle of customers and service portfolio. Andreas Speiser: “In tight cooperation with our sister companies in Austria, Luxemburg, Poland and Slovakia we will offer our services to more transnationally acting customers.”
