Geis-group targets turnover growth in line with last year’s level

Contract logistics solutions of the Geis group yielded 12.7 per cent growth in turnover in the 2012 financial year
 
The Geis group with headquarters in Bad Neustadt (Germany) and 87 European locations, wants to continue on its successful path in the current year. "We continue to invest in quality, manpower and the expansion of our physical network“, the managing associates Hans-Georg Geis and Wolfgang Geis said referring to the construction projects for two new forwarding terminals in Satteldorf (Hohenlohe-Frankonia) and Fulda-Eichenzell. Both entrepreneurs are confident to reach a turnover growth in line with the last year’s level in 2013, despite the fluctuating economic situation.
 
In the 2012 financial year the internationally operating Geis group generate net turnover of EUR 794.2 million, or 5.8 per cent more than in the previous year. “In the light of the slowing economy, particularly in the last quarter of 2012, and the continuing mood of crisis throughout Europe, this is a satisfying result for us“, Hans-Georg Geis and Wolfgang Geis say unisono.
 
The Geis staff of 4,150 persons handled 13.19 million transport and logistics orders in the last financial year, which is 4.1 per cent more than in 2011. This total includes 7.35 million parcel shipments. Tonnage rose slightly to 3.78 million tonnes.
 
All of the three business divisions (Road Services, Logistics Services and Air + Sea Services) registered increases in turnover in 2012. The strongest increases were seen in the Logistics Services segment: Contract logistics solutions of Geis grew 12.7 per cent. Pan-European road transport (Road Services) registered a 5.1%increase in turnover. Turnover of Air + Sea Services rose 3.8 per cent in 2012. 
 
Investing a total of EUR 31.4 million, Geis implemented several major projects in 2012: The forwarding terminal in Ohrdruf, Thuringia, was enlarged from 4,000 to 6,600 m²; a second multiuser-logistics and technology center of 27,500 m² was built in the industrial park Erlangen-Frauenaurach; and the new central transhipment terminal for general cargo and parcels was built in Zvolen, Slovakia.
