GLS Austria sees further rising parcel volume to Eastern Europe

Parcel service company GLS Austria delivers „big cinema“ from Eastern Europe to the Let’s CEE film festival in Vienna and handles the transport of the trophy

GLS Austria remains on the fast lane on its connections to Eastern Europe. From the Greater Vienna the parcel company provides a generall transit time of 24 hours to Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Parcel volume to Eastern Europe is rising, sometimes even in a double-digit per centage. The shipments to these countries are handled via the GLS depot in Leobendorf in the north of Vienna, where up to30,000 parcels are handled per day.

The art scene also contributes to this development. From October 2 to 11, Vienna was the scene of the third international Let’s CEE film festival, with a focus on Eastern Europe. GLS Austria made again its contribution to the success of the event this year: The parcel and express company was the official logistics partner and carried the competition contributions to the demonstration sites in time.

The first transports began in early September. GLS Austria collected the DVDs, Bluray discs and 35mm film rolls from Romania, Hungary, Latvia, Czech Republic, Poland and Croatia, and delivered them to the festival addresses. The features and documentaries were presented and awarded in cinemas in Vienna’s city center.

„The Let’s CEE Film Festival brings cultural diversity to Vienna. We are pleased that we can support the event for the third time and were able to prove our competence for Eastern Europe again“, says Axel Spörl, Region Manager GLS Austria and Portugal.

Delivery of the films to the screening locations in Vienna is not the only task of GLS Austria. The parcel and express company also ensures that the engraved awards come quickly and safely to the prizewinners.

The award in the category of the best feature film was awarded to the Estonian director Ilmar Raag for the international co-production „I won’t come back“, the film „Pipeline“ of the Russian Vitaly Mansky has been awarded the best film in the documentary category, and the prize for the best short film was given to the Bosnian Una Gunjak for her contribution „The Chicken“.
