GLS opens new depot near Regensburg

More parcel logistics with GLS Germany in Upper Palatinate with new location in Cham near Regensburg
 
The parcel service provider GLS Germany started operating a new depot in Cham near Regensburg. This shall relief the facility in Straubing, and shorten ways for delivery at the same time. Delivery to the destinations thus takes 35 minutes less on average, as the company informs.
 
As of now GLS Germany supplies recipients in the northern Bavarian Forest, Upper Palatinate and Bavaria’s border with the Czech Republic from its depot in Cham. The new facility is deisgned to handle a maximum capacity of 6,000 parcels. The area can be expanded by another 30 per cent if necessary. So far the above named countries were supplied from the GLS depot in Straubing. “Shipment volumes in Straubing were risign continuously in the past years“, says Klaus Conrad, Managing Director GLS Germany. About 17 tours will now be passed to the new depot.
 
Five employees and 18 drivers are working for GLS in Cham. The 1,750 m² throughput hall has a gate for long-distance transport and two slots for swap bodies, as well as two main gates for sprinters. Apart from its situation close to the motorways B 20 and B 85, the depot in Cham is also linked to Straubing, where regular services to Austria are available.
