Graz Airport sees signs for recovery of air freight business

Substantial decline in air freight throughput at Graz Airport in 2009

The Executive Management of Graz Airport is looking confidently to the year 2010. “The development since November 2009 makes us quite optimistic for this year. The figures show a clear trend towards recovery“, Managing Director Gerhard Widmann estimates.

From January to December 2009 the air freight volume fell 19 per cent to 8,230 tons compared to the previous year. Import business was even more affected by the losses than export. The number of forwarded consignments has grown. Mr. Widmann: “Consignors and their forwarders still send lightweight shipments by air freight and use alternative transport modes for heavier products.“
