„Green Rail“-project of DB Schenker Arkas is running full speed

DB Schenker Logistics sends pipeline tubes with 130 block trains environmentally friendly from Turkey to the Czech Republic

In the frame of a major order DB Schenker Arkas transports 8,000 pipeline tubes with a diametre of each 1.42 metres and 18 metres length on the environmentally friendly railway from the Turkish production sites of Noksel Celik Boru Sanayi A.S. in the cities Arifiye and Halkali to Pardubice in the Czech Republic. The project was launched in November 2010 and will end in December 2011. In this period 130 trains with 2,650 wagons in total will cover the 2,000 kilometres from Turkey via Southeastern Europe to the Czech Republic. The tubes are designed for the 142 kilometres pipeline „Gazelle“, which will traverse the Czech Republic from north to south.

DB Schenker Arkas, the Turkish company of DB Schenker, has won this order in a tender thanks to its great rail expertise. The forwarding company will not only handle the rail transport, but also the complete logistics from the Turkish manufacturing plants to the pipeline construction sites throughout the Czech Republic. Schenker is the only logistics contact for the customer and is in charge of the complete handling, including interim storage and follow-up transport by truck. After customs clearance in Pardubice the wagons are divided to around ten destination railway stations in the Czech Republic. From there trucks transport the pipeline tubes to the construction sites.
