Gruber Logistics to establish its first bridge head in China
Joint venture of China Shipping Logistics and Gruber Logistics (South Tyrol) to start with a branch in Shanghai
Gruber Logistics with its headquarters in Auer, South Tyrol, is about to enter the far East market. From summer 2013 the logistics company will provide local services to their customers in China. Therefore they will open the 22nd branch in Shanghai, based on a strategic cooperation in the form of a joint enterprise with China Shipping Logistics.
In the frame of their cooperation Gruber Logistics and China Shipping Logistics want to provide comprehensive services in Europe and China to the strongly international industry of mechanical engineering. Gruber Logistics gains access to Chinese customers and top service for project cargo and heavy haulage with own equipment in China. China Shipping in turn gains better access to the European market. The next step will be the joint expansion to the African continent.
Their aim of becoming a major provider of transportations in the segments of mechanical engineering and heavy haulage through this joint venture in China, reflects Gruber Logistics’ course of expansion throughout 2013. The South Tyrolean logistics company has already started a cooperation in March with Martrans, Egypt’s biggest state shipping company and logistics group.
China Shipping was established in 1997 and is directly subordinate to China’s central government. The group is the world’s ninth’ largest shipping company, and is also known for the China Shipping Logistics group of companies, which was founded a year later. CSL has eight regional branches and more than 200 locations and is one of the biggest state logistics companies in China.
Gruber Logistics has more than 590 employees and operates 21 locations in eight countries; turnover in 2012 amounted to EUR 215 million. Through cooperations in more countries they were able to develop also markets outside Europe in their recent history.
