Hergarten steel forwarder expanding in southern Germany
Lacking an internal solution for succession Stuttgart-based W&W Spedition GmbH was sold to the Hergarten forwarding group
The Hergarten forwarding group takes over the transport company W & W Spedition GmbH, headquartered in Stuttgart, as of 1 May 2015. Thus, the company from Neuss is expanding its service offer in southern Germany. The fleet will be increased to a total of 165 units by adding 25 trailer trucks with a payload of 24 tonnes. Furthermore customers benefit from modern equipment, highly trained drivers and a perfectly connected location right on the B 10 in Deizisau near Stuttgart.
W & W Spedition GmbH is already run in its third generation. Now no more internal successor has now been found. However, Helmut Reyser, the former owner and managing director of the forwarding company, will still accompany the enterprise and maintain his executive function. In addition, all 35 employees will be retained by Hergarten.
„Even before, the strategic cooperation with W & W has shown valuable synergies,“ says Marcel Hergarten, managing partner of Hergarten steel forwarding. „For us, the acquisition of this prestigious company is a godsend: We achieve a wider position and can more flexibly respond to the needs of our customers, particularly in the region of Baden-Württemberg, who will also benefit from the decades of experience of the W & W forwarding company.“
For the customers of W & W, including well-known automotive suppliers and producers from the Stuttgart area, the acquisition means a profit: While the proven services of W & W will be retained, Hergarten’s commercial expertise and network will be added. The steel logistics provider with approximately 360,000 shipments and a total tonnage of approximately 895,000 tonnes per year implements just-in-time orders for automotive suppliers but also planning, development and execution of outsourcing projects. Regarding the vehicle fleet and drivers there is now even greater flexibility.
