Hödlmayr’s railway system for BMW plant in Leipzig

Hödlmayr International has been operating in one of Europe’s most modern car factories since the beginning of 2016. “Transport Service & Logistics GmbH” in Leipzig – a joint venture between Hödlmayr International AG and the British partner company Stobart Group – is responsible for final vehicle inspection and shipment processing at the BMW site. Recently, the automotive experts were able to convince also with their railway system.

“With a team of up to 100 employees, we have been responsible for almost three years for vehicle inspection, surface protection, warehouse management, waggon loading and factory supply,” explains Hödlmayr’s CEO Johannes Hödlmayr, and continues: “Now we added the rail transport from Leipzig to Cuxhaven. We are operating five block trains per week. The BMW plant in Leipzig is one of the most modern automotive factories in Europe – so we are particularly motivated to successfully implement these challenging tasks.”

In addition to BMW, Hödlmayr also operates as a releasing agent in six other car plants in Europe. “In total, we are responsible for the quality control of about one million new vehicles per year,” says the company’s CEO.

Hödlmayr International AG is a family-owned, international company. Its key business is vehicle logistics. The company specialises along the entire supply chain from vehicle acceptance ex-works or port of entry to delivery to vehicle retailers or fleet owners. In addition to the management of large transport fleets in Europe, the group has a European network of logistics hubs where vehicles are prepared for local and regional markets.
