IATA CEIV Pharma Certification for DHL at Vienna International Airport

DHL Global Forwarding, the air and sea freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL Group, was certified according to the CEIV pharmaceutical standard of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for its airfreight office at the Vienna International Airport. The site is now part of DHL’S global Thermonet network, which includes all IATA CEIV certified life science sites.

“The IATA CEIV Pharma Certification is a clear commitment and promise to our customers that their vital and temperature-sensitive products reach their recipients in perfect condition. It is a further step towards better coordination and standardisation along the supply chain for pharmaceutical products, which strengthens the global pharmaceutical network and our position in the market,” says Christoph Wahl, CEO DHL Global Forwarding (Austria) GmbH.

At the Vienna International Airport, the international freight forwarding company operates 600 m² of temperature-controlled warehouse and transhipment area from + 2 ° to + 8 °Celsius as well as + 15 ° to + 25 ° Celsius, and provides local expertise for compliant handling and storage of life science and healthcare shipments.

As the global demand for structurally complex, temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products grows, the life sciences and healthcare sector faces the challenges of increasingly stricter regulations and the need for smart cold chains that can secure product integrity and patients’ safety.

DHL Air Thermonet provides customers seamless temperature visibility along the supply chain, 24/7/365 proactive monitoring and intervention based on pre-determined touch points and DHL’s RFID SmartSensor technology, that is also GDP certified. The IATA CEIV Pharma Certification is yet another initiative to continuously improve the services.
