ICF develops new product for Austria

Intercontainer-Interfrigo plans to open Antwerp-Austria block train service

The Austrian sea cargo market is to get a new product for seaport hinterland traffic. ICF Intercontainer-Interfrigo in Basel is finishing its preparations to establish a block train connection from Antwerp to Vienna region and back. “The new service is planned to be put on the rail at the end of the first half of the year 2010“, Konstantinos Papadopoulos, Director Operations Intercontainer-Interfrigo SA, announced in an interview with the Österreichische Verkehrszeitung (Austrian Transport Magazine).

ICF wants to operate the new shuttle service in cooperation with the Belgian operator IFB Inter Ferry Boats. In the initial stage three rotations between Antwerp and Vienna are planned per week. Later on the KLV terminal in Wels shall be integrated into the schedule as well.
