Increased network security for Diehl Spedition

Spedition Diehl (Esslingen) sees minority holding of Gebrüder Weiss as stabilising factor

The Spedition Diehl Management has great expectations for the increased cooperation with the Gebrüder Weiss forwarding company. Jürgen Wirsing, spokesman of the Executive Management of the family enterprise, based in Esslingen in Greater Stuttgart, expects this step to strengthen the network security in the segment of international groupage cargo transport from Baden-Württemberg to East/Southeastern Europe and back. At the beginning of the year Gebrüder Weiss has acquired a minority holding of 25 per cent in the Diehl forwarding company.

In the framework of the cooperation that started 11 years ago with Gebrüder Weiss, Diehl Spedition has established 17 direct transport links between the locations Esslingen, Hohenlohe and Tuttingen and the Gebrüder Weiss stations in Austria, East and Southeastern Europe. On 13 routes daily departures are available. In the year 2008 the enterprise moved 103,501 in and outgoing consignments on these routes, weighing 46,413 tons in total.
