Italcontainer starts direct rail link from Nuremberg to Bologna

Italcontainer builds up their international product range

The Italian operator Italcontainer launched a new intermodal rail service between the bayernhafen Port of Nuremberg and Bologna. A direct train will connect the two economic centres three times per week. The transport time for the route across the Alps is 15 hours. The new relation is a southwards expansion of the international network for combined traffic departing from the locations of the bayernhafen Group.

“The rail transport service from and to Bologna creates the first link to the Italian seaports, in particular in southern Italy“, Alexander Ochs pointed out the important role of the new combined transport connection for shippers and exportation oriented companies. Mr. Ochs is charged with intermodal activities of the bayernhafen Group.

Via Bologna Italcontainer offers connections to Genoa, La Spezia, Livorno, Ravenna, Bari and Taranto. These ports are trans-shipments points for global container transportations. In the opposite direction the Italian seaports are connected with the German North Sea ports by direct services via Nuremberg to Hamburg and Bremerhaven.
