Japanese steel group selects duisport as logistic junction

Metal One’s subsidiary “Siecop“ is to operate a European processing and distribution centre in Duisburg from mid-2012

The duisport is preparing for a new construction project. Metal One, a globally acting steel trading company, takes over a 22,000 m² plot of land in Duisburg – Ruhrort. The subsidiary of the Mitsubishi Corporation and Sojitz Corporation will build an administrative building there as well as a 5,500 m² crane hall for steel processing and European wide distribution. Construction works will start in the fourth quarter of this year. The facility is scheduled to start operating by mid-2012.

The Metal One subsidiary “Siecop“ will be operating the terminal. The company receives high quality electro steel coils for transformer cores, whose main coils arrive at the neighbouring container terminal by river vessel transport. These coils are further processed at the steel-service-centre and distributed throughout Europe by road, rail or waterway transport.
