Joint Venture for break bulk of ICO and Rhenus in Zeebrugge

Zeebrugge Breakbulk Terminal of ICO and Rhenus focusses on bulk goods and project market

International Car Operators (ICO) and Rhenus Holding Belgium (a company of the Rhenus group) announced the forming of their joint venture Zeebrugge Breakbulk Terminal (ZBT) at the middle of this week. Activities at the new terminal will concentrate on the bulk goods and project market – including throughput and storage. This based on the deep and shortsea quays at Noordelijk Insteekdok (Northern Inlet Dock) at the port of Zeebrugge, where required throughput and warehousing infrastructure is available.

“The agreement is an important milestone within our plans to use the full capacity of the port of Zeebrugge as terminal operators. We are looking forward to cooperate with our Rhenus partners to increase throughput volumes in Zeebrügge by the ZBT,“ says Marc Adriansens, Managing Director at ICO.

International Car Operators is one of the world’s biggest port operators for ro-ro cargo handling. More than 1.5 million vehicles are handled per year at the company’s terminals in Belgium, Italy and India. ICO is a 100-per cent subsidiary of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK).
