Karlshamn Express becomes part of DFDS Group

Karlshamn Express enforces DFDS by adding own logistics operations to support the Baltic & Russian route network and by expanding the range of logistics solutions
 
To expand and develop its logistics services between Sweden and the Baltics, Russia and surrounding countries DFDS has today acquired 100 % of the share capital of the Swedish logistics company Karlshamn Express AB. The acquisition supports DFDS’ network strategy by adding own logistics operations to support the Baltic route network, and by expanding the range of logistics solutions to customers. In addition, the acquisition increases its presence in a region with a relatively high level of economic growth.
 
In 2012 Karlshamn Express had total revenues of SEK 225m (EUR 25,9m). The company employs around 100 people. The main activity is transport of full and part loads between Sweden and the Baltics, Russia and surrounding countries. In addition, domestic transport and warehousing services are provided. The company’s services are provided using different transport modes, including road, rail and shipping, and the company is a major customer on DFDS’ route between Karlshamn and Klaipeda. Karlshamn Express’ head office and warehousing facilities are located in Karlshamn. The company also has offices in Liepaja, Ventspils, Klaipeda and Kaliningrad. 
 
DFDS is northern Europe’s largest integrated shipping and logistics company and operates a network of 30 routes with 50 freight and passenger ships. The company provides freight and logistics services with trailers, containers, and rail in Europe. The group generated with 5,900 employees in 20 countries a revenue with about DKK 12 billion (EUR 1.6 billion). The company was founded in 1866, is headquartered in Copenhagen, and is listed on NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen.
