Katoen Natie acquires the dry port of Rivalta

Fagioli holding has sold their 90.2 percent participation of Rivalta Scrivia S.A. in Tortona to Katoen Natie group (Antwerp)

Antwerp based Katoen Natie group has reached an agreement with the Fagioli holding for the takeover of its stocks of Rivalta Scrivia S.A. (Tortona). Rivalta Scrivia is the biggest logistics company in Italy with a 125 ha (45 ha covered warehouses) site in Tortona on the crossroads of the highways of Genoa – Milan and of Turin-Piacenza-Bologna. It is the dry port of the port of Genoa and the port of La Spezia.

The Rivalta terminal harbours a rail terminal with several daily connections with the ports of Genoa and la Spezia and a daily train to and from Rome. Other Italian destinations can be served by train as well. From this logistic platform the distribution to the industry and retailers of Piemonte, Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia Romagna takes place.

Rivalta is the logistic hub that connects the Italian ports with the economic heart of Northern Italy. The terminal is primarily specialized in the distribution of products for retail, the industry and for commodities such as coffee, cocoa and sugar. Apart from this terminal the deal also included the takeover of 14 ha of warehouses in Nocetolo – Reggio Emilia as well as 11 ha in Torrile – Parma.

Katoen Natie group has been active in Cremona for 10 years, where it has been operating (in the last accessible port of the river Po) a large logistics platform for petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and consumer goods. The acquisition of the dry port of Rivalta is a complementary addition to Katoen Natie’s logistics services to the industrially strong Northern Italy.
