KN takes over outsourcing project for Siemens’ plant in Fürth

Siemens plant in Fürth chose Kuehne + Nagel as its partner to optimise the entire warehousing and distribution logistics
 
In the frame of a several-years outsourcing project Kuehne + Nagel will take over all warehousing activities for semi finished products and finished products at the Siemens plant for industrial switching technology in Fürth. The logistician will provide about 10,000 m² of storage area at its nearby location in Nuremberg. “This is the biggest contract logistics project we have been implementing so far for Siemens“, says Volker Sauerborn, Vice President Sales and Business Development Contract Logistics Central Europe Kuehne + Nagel.
 
In addition to classic tasks in goods issue and goods receipt, Kuehne + Nagel will also be in charge of picking of individual parts and pallets, as well as air and seaworthy packaging and consolidation. Moreover the enterprise offers value added services in the segment of pre- and post-production. In the frame of fully automated cable cutting, cables are automatically cut in defined lengths and packed for Siemens customers.
 
As another value added service Kuehne + Nagel has implemented a consignments warehouse at the location in Nuremberg for Siemens suppliers. At the same time external warehousing capacities of Siemens were integrated into the new logistics centre.
