LINZ AG Hafen posts growth on all courses

Trade port in Linz registered increases in all relevant throughput classes in 2011 and implements an expansion program at the container terminal

The year 2011 showed a positive development for the trading port of Linz. The trimodal logistics hub in Upper Austria’s capital achieved growth in all segments. This makes the persons in charge confident to implement the recently launched program to modernise and expand the container terminal. The first module includes the acquisition of new portal cranes for EUR 20.1 million, the establishment of additional depot area and the adjustment of tracks to today‘s demands.

In the 2011 calendar year 3.094 million tons of goods passed the facilities of the LINZ AG port. This means a 7.9 per cent increase compared to last year. Water throughput improved 7.1 per cent in the reporting period to 1.141 million tons. As for container throughput 206,518 TEU mean a 12.5 per cent increase compared to 2010. With 150 employees the LINZ AG Hafen corporate group generated an annual turnover of EUR 30.8 million in 2011.
