Logistics is an „economic factor“ in Lower Austria

Lower Austria’s economic councillor Dr. Petra Bohuslav urges for stronger use of potentials of trimodal logistics 

 

Logistics has evolved from a niche issue to an economic factor for the Land Lower Austria in the past years. That was what economic councillor Dr. Petra Bohuslav emphasised on at 3 November in a press meeting on the occasion of the first Lower Austrian logistics day of the Austrian Logistics Association (BVL). The event took place at the Göttweig Abbey and was attended by more than 100 visitors.

For the near future the politician incited initiatives to reinforce the use of potentials of trimodal logistics hubs and concepts. Regarding the promotion of environmentally friendly transport means like rail and waterway she counts on the support of Rail Cargo Austria, the inland ports in Krems/Donau and Ennsdorf as well as decision makers from the circle of international freight forwarding companies and the shipping industry.

In her speech Ms. Bohuslav emphasised also on the weight of logistics with regard to regional supply and networking of Lower Austria’s industry with the growth areas in Central and Eastern Europe. Discipline made an important contribution to promote economic growth and to increase competitiveness of enterprises, the economic councillor said. Furthermore she numbered measures to reduce empty truck trips, to reduce costs of raw-materials supply and of dispatch of finished goods as important factors.
