Winemakers honours DPD Austria’s innovations

The parcel service DPD Austria has a good reputation among Austrian winemakers and wine wholesalers. In the first nine months of 2009 about 6 per cent more wine was dispatched compared to the previous year. The Management of Austria’s leading private parcel service attributes the positive result to the continuous development of their product portfolio.

“You can’t score at winemakers and wholesalers without knowing requirements of the ideal dispatch of wine“, says Rainer Schwarz, Managing Director of DPD Austria GmbH. In spring 2009 the enterprise introduced the cardboard for two bottles. In the previous year they created a solution for dispatch of magnum bottles. The latest development is the online portal www.weinlogistik.at. This application allows winemakers and wholesalers to order their wine cardboard packaging directly.

The biggest increase on last year was registered in dispatch of cardboard for six bottles, where DPD improved by 12.5 per cent. This is followed by the dispatch of cardboards for 12 bottles with an increase of 8.5 per cent. Responding to the customers’ demand for 1-litre bottles solutions, the parcel service has been offering a “limited edition“ for dispatch of six or twelve 1-litre bottles since recently.
