New cooperation of RCA and Trieste Marine Terminal

Rail Cargo Austria and T.O.Delta Group start alliance for cargo transport on the rail  via the port of Trieste

Rail Cargo Austria and the port of Trieste launch a new initiative to boost the freight transport by rail from Central and Southeastern Europe to northeastern Italy and back. Under the title "Limitless freight – the shortest route between Central and Southeastern Europe" the rail company and the Trieste Marine Terminal as part of the T.O.Delta Group presented yesterday evening in Vienna the details of their recently adopted cooperation.

"To continue the expansion of transportation of goods by rail between Central and Southeastern Europe, we will work together in the future and open new directions and connections to the port of Trieste", RCA Executive Erik Excited announced in the presence of Fabrizio Zerbini, Managing Director of Trieste Marine Terminal. The core of the partnership are pure container block train rotations, operated by Rail Cargo Italia in its own traction to and from Trieste. Specifically, the "Empress Elisabeth shuttle" offers a link once a week to Budapest, the "Bavaria shuttle" is operated five times a week to Munich, and the "Patrizia shuttle" links Trieste once a week to Ulm. The aim is to operate around 3,000 block trains to and from Trieste in 2012.

Trieste is one of the main throughput hubs for road and sea traffic for transportations from Central and Southeastern Europe to the rest of the world and back. The Trieste Marine Terminal has according to the management a 50 per cent growth rate and counts among the most important port facilities in the region.
