New seafreight branch of Dachser in Rotterdam

Dachser group complete their service portfolio for freight consignments with origin and destination points in the Netherlands

Dachser group has added a branch for sea freight to its network. As of now the internationally acting logistics service provider handles also global sea freight consignments from and to the Netherlands. Together with its joint venture partner Seacon, Dachser’s Air & Sea Logistics business segment has opened a sea freight station in Waddinxveen near Rotterdam.

The establishment of the new sea freight office enables Dachser to offer a single-source logistics package comprising overland, air and sea freight services, coupled with warehousing solutions to its customers in the Netherlands as well. Dachser’s European Logistics business segment has been operating in Waddinxveen since 2007. Dachser will now also handle its customers’ intercontinental sea freight consignments from here. “Waddinxveen is located about 25 kilometres from Rotterdam. We are operating a 7,000 sq. m. transhipment hall and an additional 12,000 sq. m. of warehouse space,” explains Jan Willem Das, branch manager at Dachser Air & Sea Logistics in Waddinxveen.

Dachser Air & Sea Logistics and the Dutch logistics provider, Seacon, set up the Dachser Netherlands Air & Sea Logistics B.V. joint venture in 2008. Both partners hold a 50 per cent-equity share. Initially the company focused exclusively on intercontinental air freight services. “Being able to offer sea freight services from now on is a major step in the optimization of our global network structures,” says Thomas Reuter, managing director of Dachser Air & Sea Logistics.
