News from GAC

GAC India launches GAC CONSOLE service to boost India – Far East trade; GAC extends global agency network to The Bahamas.

GAC Logistics India has further enhanced its inter-regional connections with the launch of CONSOLE, a new direct import consolidation service for shipments from the Far East.

The new CONSOLE service offers a direct, weekly service that enables cargo from Shanghai, Shenzhen and Ningbo in mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore to be shipped directly to the western Indian port of Nhava Sheva, as opposed to being routed via Singapore as a transhipment hub.

According to Gracias Thevar, GAC India’s country manager, logistics, the elimination of transhipment via Singapore cuts transit time from 22-25 days to about 15 days.

In other news, GAC has further strengthened its global shipping network with the signing of an alliance agreement with Bahamian agency Elnet Maritime Co, to form GAC-Elnet, effective March 1st.

Founded in 2008, Elnet provides agency services to principals with vessels calling at ports throughout The Bahamas.

GAC’s expansion into The Bahamas is in response to the growing demands of clients, particularly oil majors operating and using the country’s storage terminals, which is partly due to an anticipated increase in the use of the South Riding Point crude storage and transhipment terminal on Grand Bahamas, to supply refineries in the US with crude oil and feedstock.
