Norbert Dentressangle secures Carlsberg contract

Norbert Dentressangle has been appointed as Carlsberg UK’s primary logistics partner under a new five year contract.

Carlsberg UK is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Carlsberg Group and is the UK’s fourth largest brewer, with a portfolio of brands including Carlsberg, Carlsberg Export, Tuborg, Tetley’s, San Miguel, Staropramen and Holsten.

From February 2012, Norbert Dentressangle will take responsibility for all of Carlsberg’s UK primary distribution, including managing the flow of materials, i.e., cans, bottles and kegs, and finished product, into and out of the Carlsberg brewery in Northampton. The contract also includes the management of Carlsberg’s container yard, involving the receipt, sorting and inspection of empty kegs as well as the management of Carlsberg’s national distribution centre, also in Northampton.

Norbert Dentressangle will also be responsible for the primary transportation of both small pack products into retailers‘ regional distribution centres, kegged products into Carlsberg’s own secondary distribution network and the movement of tanked beer for major events, such as music festivals.

However, Carlsberg will continue to distribute its own and other third-party brands to pub and free-trade customers through its own secondary on-trade distribution network.

David Hawkins, Country Procurement Manager for Carlsberg UK said: "Carlsberg is delighted to have secured the services of Norbert Dentressangle as our primary transport, national distribution centre and brewery services provider. There is a strong cultural fit in how Norbert Dentressangle develops people and allows them to grow with the business; Carlsberg shares this value as a key business driver."
