Ökombi registers strong growth
The Ökombi-company, operating the rolling road oeprations in the RCA Group, takes course to a record result. General Manager Franz Dirnbauer expects a total volume of 335,000 trucks for 2008, which means a 14%-increase compared to last year. On the Brenner-axis 171,490 trucks (+ 27.6%) were shifted from road to rail between January and October. According to the company’s own statement the Ökombi is the market leader in rolling road transport in Europe. On 9 national and international connections 22,000 blocktrains are operated per year. This resulted in a sales revenue of EUR 90 million in 2007. According to an announcement of Mr. Dirnbauer the rolling road capacity will be increased to 500,000 trucks per year and further destinations will be developed until 2010.
