OOCL achieved growth in Asia-Europe transport in 2012

Orient Overseas Container Line (Hong Kong) presents respectable transport volume and revenue figures for 2012
 
In spite of the strained global economic situation the liner shipping company Orient Overseas Container Line (Hong Kong) has done fine in the calendar year 2012. Transport volume worldwide amounted to 5.22 million TEU or 3.7 per cent above last year’s level. Annual turnover rose 6.7 per cent to USD 5.9 billion, as the Hong Kong-based member of the G6 Alliance announced at the start of the week. The overall load factor was 2.9% lower than the same period in 2011. Overall average revenue per TEU increased by 2.9% compared to the same period last year.
 
In the reporting period the OOCL vessels carried 885,223 TEU on the routes between Asia and Europe, which is 2.8 per cent more than in 2011. In line with that sales revenues increased by 8.9 per cent to USD 1.158 billion. On the Trans Atlantic route volume increased 4.2% to 407,973 TEU, while revenues fell 2 per cent to USD 660.2 million.
