Rail Cargo Group starts new cooperation in Turkey

Rail Cargo Group: Cooperation with Turkish forwarding enterprise BALO to boost railway traffic between Turkey and North-western Europe

Express-Interfracht, a company of the Rail Cargo Group, is taking action to consolidate their presence in the fast growing Turkish market. The partner for their new cooperation will be the Turkish forwarding enterprise BALO Büyük Anadolu Lojistik Organizasyonlar. They plan to establish a shuttle connecting Vienna and the Bosporus for goods transport of Anatolian exporters.

Express-Interfracht is currently calling Turkey four times per week deploying intermodal trains. From August 2013 two weekly operations on each course will be added for BALO from Turkey to Central and Western Europe. This means Turkey will have six weekly services from August. By the end of 2014 at least 10 weekly rotations shall be operated, the Rail Cargo Group announces in a press release.

The nationale BALO organisation has a clear focus on intermodal transport using block trains, and originates in a project aimed at boosting railway traffic in Turkey. The Turkish industry has initiated this railway logistics project named Büyük Anadolu Lojistik Organizasyonlar (great Anatolian logistics organisations, Balo). Their target is to consolidate goods flows in transhipment centres and forward them through intermodal rail/road transport towards Western Europe. Balo is backed by commercial chambers, industrial centres, warehousing organisations and the forwarding association Utikad.
