TNT Express to focus on Europe

Dutch logistics group TNT Express to sell its China and Brazil Domestic branches
 
TNT Express presented at 25th March the details of its updated strategy, called “Deliver!”, to improve profitability from now to 2015, reads a press release. Responding to challenging trading conditions and continuing price pressure, the Dutch express logistics provider will carry out measures to improve its competitive position, particularly in Europe, and operate its business more efficiently. TNT Express’ profit improvement plan is expected to affect 4,000 jobs throughout the company in the next three years. 
 
The company anticipates restructuring costs of EUR 150 million between until the end of 2015. The strategy is built around four priorities: First, reshaping the portfolio through the sale of China and Brazil Domestic. The sales process for domestic China is underway, while preparations for the sale of Brazil Domestic have started. Second, focusing on the group’s core strengths in major European markets and thus increasing growth in its most profitable segments. Third, TNT Express will adapt its operating model to improve cost efficiency, targeting improvements of EUR 220 million by 2015. And fourth, investing in infrastructure and in IT. Total investments for the period to the end of 2015 are estimated at around EUR 200 million.
