OOCL is back on profit track in 2010

2010 annual report of OOCL’s parent company Orient Overseas (International) Ltd. shows a clear turn for the better 

 

The 2010 business year took a positive turn for the parent company Orient Overseas (International) Ltd. of the container shipping company OOCL (Hong Kong). In their hot-off-the-press annual report the company shows a turnover of USD 6.033 billion (up 39 per cent compared to the previous year) and a profit at USD 870 million. The 2009 balance of OOIL had shown a loss of USD 376 million.

The OOCL vessels moved 4.8 million TEU in the reporting period, which means a 14.6 per cent increase compared to 2009. Revenue per TEU was up 27.5 per cent to USD 1,178. Load factor was 81 per cent in 2010 versus 74 per cent in 2009. Taking delivery of four 8,063 TEU and five 4,578 TEU new-build vessels, the enterprise increased the operating capacity of its fleet by 22.6 per cent to 383,855 TEU.
